Unbelievable Spiderman Street Art at Universal Studios Japan by Kurt Wenner (PHOTO)(VIDEO)
Instant vertigo… I’m gripping my chair arms for dear life. This trick artwork was created by Kurt Wenner for Universal Studios Japan’s 10th anniversary. The work features Spiderman, and in addition to creating a 3D effect with Kurt’s use of anamorphic perspective, this work also leverages 3D Stereoscopic effect (only viewable when wearing Color Code 3D blue and amber glasses). The combined effect of the two is nothing short of amazing, and while you need the glasses to see the additional stereo 3D effect, the anamorphic perspective 3D effect alone is quite spectacular. The work itself is approximately 50 feet long and 20 feet wide, and incorporates original vertical artwork as well as existing elements of Universal Studios into the artwork (the background New York Library set that was used in the film Ghostbusters). The artwork is on display at Universal Studios Japan, and visitors to the park can enter the artwork and have their photo taken.
