First Lady Michelle Obama Booed At NASCAR Race (VIDEO)
Sunday, Florida NASCAR fans shocked the country by booing First Lady Michele Obama and Vice President Joe Biden’s wife, Dr. Jill Biden. The behavior has been condemned by many, and reflects poorly on NASCAR fans.
Acting as Grand Marshalls of NASCAR’s Sprint Cup finale, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden were in Miami at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday as part of a publicity tour in support of the Joining Forces progam, an initiative to train and hire veterans. The pair was there to promote the military families and veterans who bravely served this country.
When Obama and Biden were introduced to kick off the race, however, loud booing could be heard. To make matters worse, the two were standing next to a veteran with his children when the crowd began to boo.
While the rude behavior was condemned by many, some right wing pockets of the Internet celebrated the disregard and disrespect for the women, and our country. In particular, crude, openly racist comments about the story were plentiful over at Fox Nation.

The behavior of the NASCAR fans is deeply regrettable for everyone involved. Such behavior only feeds the stereotype of the typical NASCAR fan as being “dumb,” “toothless,” “racist,” “wife-beating,” “red-neck,” etc. Clearly it is unfair to identify every NASCAR fan with such stereotypes; clearly all NASCAR fans are not low class, ignorant, bigots. Thus, the rude and insensitive behavior displayed Sunday is deeply regrettable, for such behavior only confirms the worst assumptions many make about NASCAR fans.
