This video has outraged thousands of people since hitting the internet. It’s of a young boy about 8 years old, looks to be of mixed decent, somewhere in China…  surrounded by a circle of ADULTS, allowing a GROWN MAN to kick, slap, and crush his little hands… the young boy screams and cries and none of these people did ANYTHING to help the him physically, but just trying to tell the man to have mercy on the child. Seeing him getting his hands crushed, on his knees, crying and holding his hands out in utter pain. It’s hard to watch.

The woman with the umbrella says: 小孩子也很可怜. “The child is also very pitiful/pathetic.” Which I think in this context means to take pity on the child, ie. not beat him. Then at the end: 他就是个小孩子. “He’s just a child!” And for those saying he’s not white, if he’s Uyghur, then that means he’s a Turkic mix, technically making him mixed race. Either way, they’re doing this not because he’s white, but because of the constant threat of thieves, mob mentality, and most importantly, because of what he’s not, and that’s Han Chinese.
中华民族 = 放屁 Seems like maybe this happened in Zhejiang province (East, south of Shanghai) based on the umbrella saying 雁荡山 (or Yandang Mountain, which is in Zhejiang) Or she could’ve just visited and really loved that umbrella. Difficulty attempting to parse this awful dialect into Mandarin.

Not really sure about the background, but we’re guessing the young boy was caught stealing. The little boy is probably one of the 56 smaller ethnic groups in China and some gangs probably used him to steal things, like phones, wallets, etc from people in richer cities. One of the problems in China’s government (or local governments) is that the crimes committed by the minority ethnic kids are often ignored, so they never get in trouble from the law (reason why gangs use minority kids). These crimes are getting pretty prevalent in big cities like Guangzhou. This little boy is probably not innocent but rather caught in the act of stealing. However, this doesn’t excuse the few people that violently attacked the boy.

This issue most likely has nothing to do with the boy being white or whatever else is being suggested out on the Internets.

Regardless of custom, location or wherever, hurting a child is inexcusable.

This is a fine example of what happens when countries don’t invest in child welfare – who knows if this kid was only trying to survive on his own. We’ve seen it many times while traveling abroad. It’s even highlighted in movies like ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘.

*sigh* sometimes this world just doesn’t make any sense. I just hope and pray to God this boy has a decent family to go home to.
