Louis The Octopus Who Loves His Mr Potato Head [PIC]

Louis the octopus clearly thinks two heads are better than one when it comes to toys.

The 1.8m-wide (6ft) creature is so attached to Mr Potato Head that he turns aggressive when aquarium staff try to remove it from his tank.

The giant Pacific octopus was given the toy for Christmas and has even learned to dig out food hidden in a secret box at the back of it.

'He's fascinated by it,' said Matt Slater, of the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay, Cornwall. 'He attacks the net we use to fish the toy out every time we try to take it away.'

Mr Slater added: 'Octopuses are very intelligent and they like to be stimulated and busy.'

Poll: No Punishment is Needed. Teachers Caught By Janitor Alini Brito and Cindy Mauro Accused of Having Naked Sex in HS Classroom - Brooklyn, NYC

Alini Brito,Cindy Mauro

The teachers, Alini Brito and Cindy Mauro, who are 33 and 29 and teach French and Spanish respectively, have been described as "good looking," "popular," and "well-dressed" among other flattering adjectives.

The janitor who supposedly catches them in the act, Robert Colantuoni, refused to comment Tuesday. "I can't talk about it, I'm sorry," he said. (Lucky man...lol)

Somewhere in that high school, there is a boy holding a golden lamp with a genie in it...and he still has two wishes left!

Two female Romance language instructors were tossed out of their Brooklyn high school after being caught "undressed" in an empty classroom, sources told the Daily News Tuesday.

Students at James Madison High School in Midwood were watching a talent show in the auditorium while Alini Brito and Cindy Mauro were speaking the international language of love, sources said.

A janitor stumbled on French teacher Mauro, 33, and Brito, 29, a married Spanish instructor, and tattled to school officials on Nov. 20.

Some of the comments from the students:

Students said both teachers were popular.

"[Ms. Mauro] was pretty fun..."

"She dressed like a teenage girl - she'd wear low-cut tops, shorts, three-quarter length jeans. She was kinda sexy."

"You could see that she was the kind of person who would flirt."

Students said Mauro dyed some of her hair pink over the summer and has an array of sexy tattoos: a sun on her lower back, a flower on her leg, and a star on her foot.

Brito opted for more demure attire.

"She's pretty," said one 17-year-old who took French with her.

"Mrs. Brito was good-looking. Oh, yeah!"

A 16-year-old sophomore said Brito was a teacher students would come to with problems.

"She usually dresses elegant, looks smart," he said. "She's good-looking. And she was friendly, not flirty, just friendly."

Controversial Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will be staying in a hospital for observation overnight after being attacked at a campaign rally at a square in Milan, Italy.

Virtual Switches of the Future - Touchable Holograms [Video]

Wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about getting germs from germ-infested surfaces in the near future? I definitely Purell myself after touching a heavily used public surface.

Researchers at Tokyo University have come up with a technology that is a first and significant step away from the mouse and keyboard touchable holograms.

[Hiroyuki Shinoda, Professor, Tokyo University]:
"Up until now, holography has been for the eyes only, and if you'd try to touch it, your hand would go right through. But now we have a technology that also adds the sensation of touch to holograms."

The technology consists of software that uses ultrasonic waves to create pressure on the hand of a user touching the projected hologram.

Researchers are using two Wiimotes from Nintendos Wii gaming system to track a users hand.

The technology was introduced at SIGGRAPH, an annual computer graphics conference, and has so far only been tested with relatively simple objects.

But its inventors have big plans for touchable holograms in the future.

[Hiroyuki Shinoda, Professor, Tokyo University]:
"For example, it's been shown that in hospitals, there can be contamination between people due to objects that are touched communally. But if you can change the switches and such into a virtual switch, then you no longer have worry about touch contamination. This is one application that's quite easy to see."

Touchable holograms could be used for a wide variety of things... everything from light switches to books with each appearing when needed, and then disappearing when not.

And holograms could replace the need for making new interfaces for technology, since they could be changed without having to make a new physical product.

An Amazing Display Of Power: Watch NASA Light Up The Utah Sky [VIDEO]

NASA and industry partners lit up the Utah sky on Sept. 10, 2009, with the initial full scale, full-duration test firing of the first motor for the Ares I rocket.

ATK Space Systems conducted the successful stationary firing of the five-segment solid development motor 1, or DM-1. ATK Space Systems, a division of Alliant Techsystems of Brigham City, Utah, is the prime contractor for the Ares I first stage. Engineers will use the measurements gathered from the test to evaluate thrust, roll control, acoustics and motor vibrations.

This data will provide valuable information as NASA develops the Ares I and Ares V vehicles. Another ground test is planned for summer 2010.

Online Social Networking Profiles (i.e. Facebook) Convey True Personality Of Profile Owners

Online social networks such as Facebook are being used to express and communicate real personality, instead of an idealized virtual identity, according to new research from psychologist Sam Gosling at The University of Texas at Austin.

"I was surprised by the findings because the widely held assumption is that people are using their profiles to promote an enhanced impression of themselves," says Gosling of the more than 700 million people worldwide who have online profiles. "In fact, our findings suggest that online social networking profiles convey rather accurate images of the profile owners, either because people aren't trying to look good or because they are trying and failing to pull it off.

"These findings suggest that online social networks are not so much about providing positive spin for the profile owners," he adds, "but are instead just another medium for engaging in genuine social interactions, much like the telephone."

Gosling and a team of researchers collected 236 profiles of college-aged people from the United States (Facebook) and Germany (StudiVZ, SchuelerVZ). The researchers used questionnaires to assess the profile owners' actual personality characteristics as well as their ideal-personality traits (how they wished to be). The personality traits included: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness.

In the study, observers rated the profiles of people they did not know. These ratings were then compared to the profile owners' actual personality and their ideal-personality. Personality impressions based on online social network profiles were accurate and were not affected by profile owners' self-idealization.

Accuracy was strongest for extraversion - paralleling results of face-to-face encounters - and lowest for neuroticism. Those findings were consistent with previous research showing that neuroticism is difficult to detect without being in person.

"I think that being able to express personality accurately contributes to the popularity of online social networks in two ways," says Gosling. "First, it allows profile owners to let others know who they are and, in doing so, satisfies a basic need to be known by others. Second, it means that profile viewers feel they can trust the information they glean from online social network profiles, building their confidence in the system as a whole."

Gosling recently co-authored a study on how first impressions do matter when it comes to communicating personality through appearance. For his latest personality research, he focuses his attention to personality in relation to online social networks.

Findings will be published in an upcoming issue of Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science. Researchers include: Gosling and Sam Gaddis (The University of Texas at Austin), Mitja Back, Juliane Stopfer and Boris Egloff (Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany), Simine Vazire (Washington University in St. Louis), and Stefan Schmukle (Westfälische Wilhelms-University Münster, Germany).

Golfer Tiger Woods Apologized Wednesday For "Transgressions" That Let His Family Down

"I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves," he said in a statement on his official Web site.

"I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone."

Woods made the comments in a statement posted on his Web site the same day that a gossip magazine published a story alleging that Woods had an affair with a 24-year-old cocktail waitress.

The rest of his message from his website: tigerwoods.com

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.

Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

If you have not heard the now famous voicemail from Tiger, check it out here: "Hey This is Tiger" Listen to Tiger Woods' Panicked Voice Mail To (just one of many) Alleged Mistress Jaimee Grubbs

"Hey This is Tiger" Listen to Tiger Woods' Panicked Voice Mail To (just one of many) Alleged Mistress Jaimee Grubbs

Update: I had to add this piece of video of the pieced together details of the events that happened the night of Tiger Wood's accident at his home.

Us Weekly has new details from Tiger Woods' off-and-on girlfriend, 24 year-old Los Angeles cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs. On Nov. 24 -- the day before reports of his alleged infidelity first surfaced Tiger left a message in which he begged her to change her voicemail greeting.

Jaimee was a cocktail waitress in San Diego. She told US Weekly she met Tiger in Las Vegas in 2007. Grubbs provided sexual text messages she said she received from Tiger.

The message goes on to say, "I need you to do me a huge favor. Can you please take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone and may be calling you. So if you can, please take your name off that. Just have it as a number on the voicemail. You got to do this for me. Huge. Quickly. Bye."

In this week's issue of Us Weekly (on newstands now) Grubbs details their 31-month affair. She reveals that they first hooked up in April 2007, and went on to have 20 sexual encounters.

She also shares her evidence, including photos and more than 300 racy text messages. One from Woods begins: "I will wear you out...when was the last time you got (bleeped)?" one message read. Another one from Tiger read, "Send me something very naughty…Go to the bathroom and take (a picture)."

Jamie Grubbs story adds more fuel to the burning scandal that began when the National Enquirer published an exclusive story that Tiger was in a cheating scandal with Rachel Uchitel, a New York party girl. And while Tiger and Uchitel have both denied an affair, the Enquirer followed her to Australia, where she and Tiger were in the same hotel. In addition, the Enquirer produced an on-the-record interview with a friend and multiple sources who passed polygraphs.

Grubbs and Uchitel are not the end of the cheating scandal woes for Tiger, though. RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively that several other women are talking to media outlets and all claim to have had sexual relationships with Tiger.

RadarOnline.com has also reported that Tiger Woods booked and paid for Rachel Uchitel's travel to meet him in Australia in November. Tiger's organization booked and paid for Rachel's trip, and that's how the two ended up in Australia at the same time last month.

Tiger's problems are growing daily. His early-morning car crash into a tree November 27 came after the National Enquirer linked him to Rachel in a cheating scandal. And now Us Weekly has backed up the Enquirers' report and produced Jaimee Grubbs, who said she had an on-and-off affair with Tiger for the past several years. Unfortunately for Tiger, several other women have told various media outlets they have had romantic relationships with the married 33-year-old golfer. Some of the women have voice mails and other documented proof.

The billionaire golfer wed model Elin Nordegren, 29, in 2004; they have a two-year old daughter, Sam, and a nine-month old son, Charlie. The couple's argument over Woods' alleged affair with NYC hostess Rachel Uchitel, 34, reportedly led to his one-car accident near his home in Florida this Friday.
